A note on back-to-school butterflies

September is nearly here, and the Jellies are dusting off their satchels, tying their laces, and preparing for an exciting new term!

There’s a certain shiver in the air – but not from the breeze. The sort of shiver you get when you’re not sure whether to be excited, nervous or a little scaredy-woo (it’s natural).

Amuseables Pencil has been up since dawn, colour-coding her notebooks, practising underlining her name... and worrying when she couldn't get it perfectly straight.

Amuseables Ruler, calm as ever, reassured her that he'd help her out – but also reminded her that sometimes the best ideas lie outside of the lines, in the squiggly bits.

Amuseables Apple is positively gleaming. She’s polished, super-keen and pondering where to perch in the lunch hall for people-watching and maximum visibility. A new term to her means new chances, and while she’s not sure about algebra, she's confident she’ll ace making new friends!

And so the Jellies go, stepping into the unknown with their notebooks and hopes in hand. There may be wibbles. There may even be wobbles. But with classmates like these, even the trickiest of maths tests feel a little less scary.

Here’s to new friends, crumpled timetables and the jumble of first-day feelings – the fluttery ones, the smiley ones, and those that end with a muddy jumper and a brand-new best friend.

Pencil at the ready. Ruler at your side. Apple in your pocket.

This term’s looking rather lovely already.

(Oh, and remember not to be late for class. Rumour has it the new supply teacher, Timmy Turtle, is a stickler for tardiness – he’ll dish out a detention faster than Peanut saying the dog ate his alarm clock…)
