Tennis Ball couldn't wait to join the fun. He made sure his friends had a good viewing spot: Bartholomew Bear packed a cushion, sun cream, and basket full of treats, while Cizi Snake brought a whole lot of opinions on tennis technique – and wasn't shy about sharing them!

The match was underway. Cream Bunny (a newcomer) was playing against Chip Seagull, who had flown in with the air of someone sure of a win – and a sausage he claimed was a good luck charm…

Heads were turning. Rallies were brisk. Gasps were audible!

Every time Cream Bunny scored a point, Cizi waved a tiny flag with such gusto she nearly fell off the bench.

And then – the *unthinkable *happened! A power slam shot from Cream Bunny brought the match to a dramatic end. Chip threw his racket down. The crowd sat in bewildered silence...

Jellycat Jack, who had been quietly minding a bowl of strawberries and cream, dropped his spoon in awe.

“Now that," he said, "was spectacular!”

Tennis Ball rolled forward in his seat. He turned to Bartholomew, exclaiming, 'This might be the best day of my life. Ever!"'

And it probably was.

The sun didn’t go in. The strawberries didn’t run out. And Chip Seagull (once he’d cooled down with a pint of cream), very graciously admitted that his opponent was the better player…  Which, as everyone agreed over a final spoonful, was a very sporting thing to do (so much for the lucky sausage!).

And as for Tennis Ball? Well… he beamed and bounced and looked around at his friends, thinking how wonderful it all was.

Because really, regardless of the final result, it was love all round!
