A Scottish surprise? Yes please!

Some Jellies are calling it *the *cultural event of the year; others are still trying to understand how bagpipes work. But one thing’s for sure, Munro Scottie Dog’s next Burns Supper is a must-attend.

A proud Scotspup (and lover of soirées), Munro invited the crème de la crème to partake in his favourite Scottish tradition, Burns Night – an evening celebrating the life and works of Scotland’s national bard, Robert Burns.

There was poetry. There was dancing. There was food that left guests hungry for answers. And taking it all in was Jelly Journal’s Culture Editor, Amuseables Mozzarella. Here’s how it went down...

Poems of friendship and love were recited as expected – but not, as it turned out, by the host. Instead, a surprisingly impassioned Timmy Turtle stunned the room with a heartfelt recital of Burns’s finest verses. Accents? Nailed. Pronunciations? Fearless.

Next, the food: an undecipherable smorgasbord of Scotland’s finest delicacies – including a few firsts for your very own Mozzarella (an Editor who is, it should be noted, always open to stretching their palate...).

While some guests played it safe, sticking with the homemade shortbread, Amuseables Peanut had no such reservations. The bright orange fizzy pop was guzzled with gusto. (Peanut’s logic?  Anything that fiercely orange *must *be good for you!)

Post-supper brought the ceilidh – a joyful tangle of bagpipes, spinning Jellies and limbs doing their own thing entirely.

Naturally, Bartholomew Bear’s boogeying instincts took over, and he stole the show. Inspired by the ceilidh, he’s now set on celebrating as many cultures as he can (through dance, naturally!). Next up? Siofra Shamrock’s legendary kick-hop – maybe some of her Irish luck will transfer to him?

It wasn’t just Bartholomew’s moves that caught the eye, though. His bespoke kilt, hand-sewn by his cousin, Leola Bear, earned well-deserved ‘best dressed’ plaudits. Jelly Journal’s Fashion Editor, Luxe Bunny Willow, was quick to hop on the trend: “Leola Bear’s done it again! Highland chic is at its peak.”

With bellies full, spirits high, and the last crumbs of shortbread fast disappearing, only one thought lingered. Can *every *night be Burns Night?
