BREAKING: London bear wins ‘Best in Show’

A gasp. A silence. A deafening round of applause.

Local Londoner Bartholomew Bear has just been awarded ‘Best in Show’ in the much-lauded Spring Fair – without, it appears, ever intending to compete… 

First on the scene was Live News Correspondent, Amuseables Happy Boiled Egg, set on separating facts from fiction. 

Bartholomew arrived early to enjoy the fair (and to debut his brand-new Daffodil Outfit), when judges, clipboards in hand, began taking notes. Lots of notes. Boxes were marked. Eyebrows shot skywards. Bloom power, seasonal sprightliness, step-pep potential...

Happy Boiled Egg can confirm that the outfit was designed by Bartholomew’s cousin, Leola Bear: art student, designer, and a rising star on London’s fashion scene. Inspired by spring gardens and “flowers that bloom in colours visible from the Jellycat Space Station”, the daffodil was always going to draw attention. 

Bartholomew, meanwhile, appears to have thought he was simply dressed appropriately. 

Fashion Editor Luxe Willow Bunny was quick to weigh in: “The bloom is bold,” she said. “And that silhouette… So avant-garden.” 

As for the runners-up? 

Amuseables Broccoli received high marks for style, with judges noting a haircut of exceptional lift, bounce, and commitment to volume. Newcomer Amuseables Carrot scored particularly well in the low-light reading assessment. Both were gracious in defeat, agreeing that Bartholomew looked wonderful and that the judging felt fair. 

Officials confirm the trophy stands.
Bartholomew was approached for comment: “I’ve had a very nice time – Bashful Bunny won’t believe the weight of this thing! If I’m being honest, though… just taking part was enough for me.”
