LEAKED: The Wildwoods documentary
2 minute read
Amuseables Peanut | Jelly Journal Intern

A top-secret documentary script.
Being the Jelly Journal's Summer Intern is brilliant. Most of the time.
Sometimes I'm trusted with important jobs, like sorting the post or making sure nobody sits on Happy Boiled Egg's laptop and breaks the news before he does. Other times, everybody gets so busy doing editor things that I'm left to entertain myself.
Which is exactly how I found a folder on the Science Desk labelled:
TOP SECRET
Now, I know what you're thinking.

"Peanut*, that doesn't sound like something you should open." *
In my defence... curiosity is a crucial scientific quality.
Inside was Boiled Egg Scientist's new wildlife documentary – she’s the Science Editor here. I don't usually watch documentaries because they don’t have enough skateboarding or dancing for my liking, but this one stars me. (Keep an eye out for the smaller yeti!)
What's the harm in sharing it with a few Jelly Journal readers ahead of schedule?

Working title: Hidden Wildwoods
*Written and narrated by Boiled Egg Scientist. *
*For years, the Wildwoods Awakening has eluded even the most experienced wildlife crews. *
*Today, the wait is over. *
Amuseables Zapperty Lightning Bolt* has arrived. With one sweep of her staff, sparks race through the ancient canopy – and then, across the Wildwoods, Jellycat creatures begin to emerge... *

*Seasoned naturalists know better than to seat themselves on mossy patches. More often than not, it's Rockleton* *enjoying forty winks. (Being a rock is hard work.) *
*And look! Right there! Amuseables Ort and Tum Acorns are dropping in. It must be skydiving season – a vital part of the species’ life cycle. With bump-proof hats like theirs, evolution skipped parachutes altogether. *
*While the Acorns are never seen apart, Bretti Yeti has long been considered a solitary species. Thus the appearance of a companion has puzzled naturalists, who now report that wherever Bretti goes, the little peanut-shaped specimen is rarely far behind. Tea often follows. *
And then, just as soon as it began... the sparks fizzle out: the Awakening is complete. The Wildwoods settle, keeping their greatest annual spectacle hidden until next year…
